Norwegian Language Tuition and NAATI-Recognised Translations by Lene Skaug

Hello!
My name is Lene Skaug, and I offer Norwegian language tuition and NAATI-recognised translation services.

As a native Norwegian with over 30 years of experience in both Norway and Australia, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my teaching and translation work. I hold a teaching qualification from Norway and earned a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics (TESOL) from Macquarie University in Sydney in 2000.

Teaching Norwegian
I began teaching Norwegian in Sydney in 2002, offering language courses at the Norwegian Church Abroad (Sjømannskirka) as well as private tuition. Since 2012, I've expanded my teaching to online platforms, reaching students ranging from 14 to 80 years old.

My students have diverse goals: some are preparing for exchange programs in Norway, others are planning trips and want to learn basic Norwegian and explore Norwegian culture. Some students wish to move to Norway for work, while others have Norwegian partners, family, or friends they wish to connect with in their native language. Many simply have a passion for the Norwegian language and culture and want to learn more.

I truly enjoy helping my students prepare for their travels and life in Norway. With experience as a travel guide and consultant, I've organised trips in Norway, Denmark, Spain, and Australia, which allows me to offer a unique perspective on language learning in a cultural context.

Translation Services
In 2004, I became a NAATI-recognised translator in Australia. I specialise in translating documents for visa purposes, education, employment, social work, travel, culture, and the arts. Over the years, I’ve worked on high-profile projects, including the Foreign Correspondent program on ABC TV, SBS Norwegian on SBS Radio, and written resources for BASAR, a Norwegian digital language platform for Cappelen Damm, Norway’s largest publisher.

Passion for Language and Culture
Teaching, languages, culture, and travelling are my true passions. In my free time, I love reading, going for beach walks, practicing yoga, and visiting swimming pools.

Collaborating with Businesses and Organisations
In addition to working with private students, I am eager to connect with Australian businesses, schools, and organisations that are interested in learning more about Norwegian language and culture. If you are looking to expand your knowledge of Norwegian or need language support, I’d love to discuss how I can assist.
